Variable Pay / RevShare

Written by

A variable payout campaign will automatically generate the pixel with an ate amount. ATE stands for the amount to earn, or in other words, the payin you are receiving from your advertiser. If the payin will vary per sale, you must have your advertiser pass you the amount of each sale in the ate= field found in the pixel. Your advertiser passing back the amount to earn/ate is vital as that is how you will know what you are getting paid per sale. You will see the amount passed in ate in the Earned column in your reporting, and it will take precedence over any other payin amount set in the system (either standard for the campaign or an override or event). These are most typically used with variable payout campaigns, but can be added to any pixel.

For those who are concerned with the visibility of the payin amount in the pixel, there is an encrypting tool within HitPath that can solve this for you. We can enable a tool for you called Encrypted Payin. This tool will allow you to create an encrypted code for each possible payin from your advertiser. With this tool, you can set the "from" and "to" amount and the increments of those amounts so that your advertiser passes back that information to you when they fire your pixel. Once your advertiser has fired your pixel with the encrypted payin, HitPath will decrypt the information and enter in the correct payin amount for the sale(s).

ATP stands for the amount to pay,or in other words, the amount that you are paying your affiliate. If you are the owner of the landing page, you can include an atp= amount in the pixel. Doing so will include what your affiliate's payout is going to be which will in turn be the amount reflected in the reports. If you were to want and/or need to fire your pixel with different payouts for your affiliates, you can change the atp amount in the pixel. It is important to keep in mind that including the atp amount in the pixel will override the amount set as the payout in the campaign and will also overwrite any override that is in place for the affiliate or campaign.

If you are not the owner of the landing page, it is not recommended that you have your advertiser fire your pixel with an atp amount as your advertiser would be mandating the amount that your affiliate would earn.

Note: although the ate= field is not necessary in the pixel of a static campaign, it can be used.
