Alternate Primary Domain

Summary
Initially within the system, your traffic runs through one primary domain created by HitPath. HitPath will also give you the option at a cost, to have additional domains for running traffic, called Alternate Primary Domains. Alternate Primary Domains are assigned at campaign level. When an Alternate Primary Domain is assigned for a campaign, the campaign will use the Alternate Primary Domain in the affiliate portal for creatives and links. Alternate Primary Domains give the flexibility to assign a tracking domain on an advertiser or a campaign basis, as opposed to Vanity Domains which are assigned on an affiliate basis.

Requesting Alternate Primary Domains
Contact your HitPath account manager to purchase an Alternate Primary Domain. An addendum along with terms & conditions is required. After that, HitPath Support will contact you about using your Alternate Primary Domain.

Using Your Alternate Primary Domain
When your Alternate Primary Domain is ready, you will see the option under Campaigns>Maintenance step 3. Links & Redirection. In the Redirectors section, an Alternate Domain dropdown will be available to select the Alternate Primary Domain. If using for an existing campaign, to avoid losing tracking, copy the campaign as a new one, then assign the Alternate Primary Domain by clicking on the pencil icon to edit the campaign. If changing an existing campaign, you MUST send a new sales pixel to the advertiser. Don't forget if you have a universal pixel placed with the advertiser, because you will need to have different pixels placed based on the tracking domain being used by the campaign.

Vanity Domains and Alternate Primary Domains
If an affiliate is assigned a Vanity Domain and is running a campaign with an Alternate Primary Domain, the affiliate will see the Vanity Domain for all links and creatives in the Afiliate Portal. All campaign traffic and redirection settings will still be applied to the Vanity Domains and Alternate Primary Domains.
